Hi, I have just had my annual hba1c test and I'm so happy that it is now 40!
I think it may be because I followed Michael Mosley 800 blood sugar 5:2 diet for 8 weeks after putting on a few pounds after a 2 week cruise. The 2 days fasting made my carbs extremely low, even eating my usual diet for the other 5 days.
I think this is something I will need to do occasionally to try and keep hba1c to 40.

Congratulations on hitting the 40

Well done and very best of luck maintaining it!

Very well done. I am finding 5:2 helps. That is skipping lunch as well as breakfast 2 days a week. I think it keeps excess liver fat in check. Also that it makes sense to make it a habit week by week. Maybe get HbA1c down to 37-38 or less over time?

Great result, well done. Keep doing what you're doing.

Well done and many congratulations :star:

I am skipping lunch and breakfast 7 days a week and waiting with bated breath for my next blood test, postponed from yesterday to the 4th November.
After years of having HbA1c hovering at the very edge of normality but not dropping at all I decided that this was the year, if not now when, and how much longer are you going to wait - so a Tesco shake at 5pm and then a small meal, drinking only water today, as I have run out of lemons.
I am hoping for changes - actually I will be a bit ticked off if there aren't any - though when I reduced daily carb from 50 down to a maximum of 40 gm my Hba1c remained exactly the same. This is far more severe though, and no more than 30gm of carbs a day.
I find it amazing how much less than 'normal' I can go - need to go, in order to push features of diabetes into more normal ranges. After being so very overweight for so many decades following a balanced diet it is almost inviting a continued 22hour fasting regime to see if I can reverse all the bad advice.
