If you have to collect it, then I assume it's pills. Are you on Metformin? I ask because that medication can stop you from absorbing B12 so pills are useless. The correct treatment for low B12 is via injection. However, due to Covid many GPs have been stopping giving injections because you have to visit the surgery. That is wrong. I have an injection every 8 weeks for low B12.
No not on metformin, but I have a suspicion that the omeprazole which I have been taking for several years as I take Naproxen has started to have an effect. My OH blames the esomeprazole for his B12 deficiency and he does have injections.

I have collected the pills and they are folic acid so it must have been that which is low. I'm not sure what causes that and I only know you have to take it if pregnant and I no longer have the equipment for that and certainly far too old.

Yes, Omeprazole will do it! I was on similar drugs for 30 years. Fortunately they discovered that my stomach problems were due to Helicobacter Pyelori bacteria (a very common cause) and since having the antibiotics for that I have had no need of PPIs now for over 20 years.

Pete has low blood folate so he's now taking 5mg Folic Acid tabs and has had 4 months supply dispensed this morning. Nothing whatever about another test later to see if his folate level has returned to normal.

Yes same as me, I have been given a form for a repeat test in 3 months.
I am finding it hard to see why mine is low as we eat all the things which it says have high folic acid like, spinach, kale, cabbage, broccoli, sprouts, rocket and nuts

Pete doesn't like eating anything dark green, I love spring greens and quite like spinach, he won't eat it - though even when it's frozen I get the grit, bit like my first husband ALWAYS got the shot in game! He will eat sweetheart and white cabbage, haven't bought any kale as it's dark green, broccoli is such a fine line between cooked and overcooked, some people who give it you it's hot but raw, no thanks. To us, cooked veg shouldn't crunch when it's eaten.

Presumably your OH and my blood tests were processed by the same lab as I am in Cov so I wonder if their machine is awry, as I find it hard to believe my folate is low the amount of 'green stuff' I eat.

I sometimes compare it to weight loss, you know... its easy to lose stones if it's there to be lost but once you get near the target goal there is less room to play with.

I think it does take time and I understand because I'm in a similar boat myself. Just keep doing what you're doing and eventually you will see the numbers you want.

That's a thought - eldest daughter in Rugby so same lab again - same result but she has had several B12 injections.

I'll have a think about all this but the NHS is dire round here.

There have been rumours about me "smoothing out highs and lows"...well, yes, for a couple of days things bumbled along in range nicely and then I've had what I can only describe as Himalayan peaks appear in my otherwise Fenland-like graph.
I'm pretty sure I know why and, I guess, that's half the battle.

Re my blood results.
I think I have sussed why the folate is low. Because things like cereals and bread are fortified with added folic acid when you are cutting those out because of the low carb approach then this could lead to a deficiency as the amount found naturally in foods is not nearly as much.
Not sure yet why potassium is high, the repeat test results will hopefully be back on Mon.
