CAMBRIDGE, UK — Measuring HbA1c levels on top of conventional cardiovascular risk factors does not improve risk prediction in adults without diabetes or existing cardiovascular disease, according to a new analysis[1].
When HbA1c levels are factored in alongside conventional cardiovascular-disease risk factors, there is only a slight improvement in risk discrimination, report investigators. Moreover, the group observed no significant improvement in the reclassification of patients into different risk categories based on the acquisition of HbA1c levels.
