Hi, I’ve recently had diabetes review blood test. My blood sugar result has remained at 46 for a year now! I’ve been on Metformin 500my 3x day since 2019. Does anyone know if it is normal for blood sugar levels to remain static i.e not going up or down? Am I now out of the danger zone? Would be grateful for any advice before I meet with the diabetic nurse. Thanks!

Between 42 and 48 you are classified as pre-diabetic or at risk of diabetes. Try reducing your carb portions a bit and it should come down

Hi @Valley1 - with scores of 46, you are sitting in the pre-diabetic range so not out of the woods. Anything above 48 is diabetes territory. As you are on Metformin, have you modified your diet much since taking them and what exercise are you currently doing? These will be key in weaning yourself off the tablets and bring down your BGs at the same time.

Glad that your HbA1c is holding steady @Valley1

Was it higher when you were initially diagnosed with diabetes? Do you check your own levels at home with a meter or rely on the 3-4 month ‘average’ of the HbA1c?

Hope your appointment with the nurse goes well and you can continue to effectively manage your BG levels.
