Fantastic result - well done 🙂

Thanks all! 🙂 .....now to try and lose a few pounds! 🙄

Hi!

Just a quick question about the H1abc or whatever it's called. All of your results are perecentages but when I got mine done recently, it was 51 with any result between 48 and 53 being good. So what's the difference between numbers and percentages?

Thanks!

It all got changed recently so some people get the numbers and some the percentages - and some get both! It even confuses the consultants who are used to working with percentages. In theory we should all get the numbers now. It's explained here:

Ah great, thanks! That's cleared it up a lot. When I was first diagnosed me result was 98 (11.1%) and me test a week ago got 51 (6.8%) which me doctor said was good. What results are ideal for diabetics? What result should I be aiming for?

That's almost exactly what I got - 11.8% at diagnosis, then 6.8% a couple of months later - ever since then I've been lucky enough to keep it between 5 and 6 %, which is pretty much ideal. The risks of complications start to become greater above 6.5% according to studies, so anything around that is good to aim for.

Great result Phil! Congratulations 🙂
