Today had first blood test after being off Metformin for 3-4 months, I doubt it will be as good as previous, due to me doing less exercise , and eating more due to Covid 19 restrictions (poor excuse) but will let you guys know probably early next week.
wish me luck

bit concerned ..and worried about new result

The important thing is that you know what to do if you have slipped back a bit and you have made such fantastic progress before, so you know you can do it again.
Maintaining the fantastic results you have had until now is exceptional but you have had to work hard for it. That level of dedication and management is difficult long term and this last 6 months have been pretty exceptional circumstances, so cut yourself some slack. If things are not as good as you would like, you can soon get them back where you want them to be again.
Fingers crossed your results are better than you expect. Don't let any minor blip with your results make you forget what you have achieved and will achieve again. I very much doubt Metformin has played any significant role in that.

Do you self-test and record your results? I know there's no direct correlation between HbA1c and finger-prick tests but if you're able to average your results for the 3 months running up to your HbA1c you can get a rough idea.

In my case I had an HbA1c three months after diagnosis and in that period my finger prick tests averaged 6.5 and my HbA1c result came back as 56, down from 114. Next check was 41 on the back of a 3-month average of 5.8, and the last one was 35 on the back of a 5.4 3-month average. My current 3-month average is 5.3 so if I had an HbA1c tomorrow I would anticipate still being mid-30s.

Anyway, I wish you luck with your result. I'm sure it will be fine.
Thanks Martin

No more than you deserve.
Remember, if it was easy we would all have perfect results all the time.
Look forward to you posting your results next week. Have a great weekend.

Hi Martin well James (my son) came off all metformin first week of lockdown and also did less exercise and ate more carbs etc due to lockdown etc so was also worried but his BT done in July was only 1 point different from 34 to 35! Much relief and amazement so try not to fret you had managed so well am sure it will be fine... best wishes Debbie and James

Fingers crossed it’s better than you fear @Martin9

Your recent results have been exemplary... so you have a little ‘wiggle room’ if dropping met and the pressures of Covid had had an effect.

At the end of the day it’s just information - to help you assess whether things are where you’d like them to be... or whether you need to make (or re-make!) some adjustments. 🙂

Good to see you posting again, Debbie, and excellent to hear "Slim Jim" is still doing so well!

Well got my HbA1c result , 3 -4 months without Metformin , it’s 35 so only 1 point up from last time, so I’m fairly happy at that result given that I’ve not been as active and eating a bit more due to Covid -19 restrictions ...🙂

Ah that’s great news @Martin9 - glad that you have kept your BG the same (near enough) despite dropping the Met

That is fantastic.
Well done.

Congratulations... you must be delighted

Delighted to see your result is a good one despite your concerns. Hopefully that means you can continue to be a little more relaxed with your carbs and still maintain an HbA1c in the normal range, especially if you can resort back to your previous exercise regime.
Really excellent result and great news to start the week!

Thanks to all who responded, it really helps ...!

That’s a great result @Martin9 well done
