Hi everyone,

had to go get some bloods done today which includes the A1c check & now the tense wait has already started 🙂 I'm really hoping to see a big improvement this time as my last test in November 2011 was a pretty rubbish 10%.

I suppose anything is a start considering I wasn't even supposed to have it done til September, I recently changed GP & they wanted me to get one done now. I feel like I really need a good result this time though not just because of the health benefits but also not sure I can face the consultant again if things are still high :(

Anyway hope this hasn't sounded too rambling, but I thought I'd post it as my lurking/ occasional posting on here has really helped improve things for me in the last few months 🙂

Lauren, I hope you get a good result this time 🙂 Don't be scared of your consultant, they should be supportive of you, not make you fearful - if it is still on the high side it's their job to help you get the numbers down 🙂

I'm predicting an 8% 🙂

Fingers crossed for a good result!

My fingers are crossed for you 🙂

Thanks, would love it if it was 8 🙂 I know my relationship with the consultant is definitely something I need to work on, I know he assumes I'm not interested even though I've never missed an appointment last time the sentence "you don't seem as interested in sorting things as my other patients" moving on, things have been great since I asked for a referral to the Dsn's as now I have a lot more support.

Lauren good luck Hun fingers and toes crossed xx

Hoping for a good single figure A1c for you Lauren. Gradual/steady improvements over longer time seem to be easier on the system than a rapid shift from higher to lower levels.

Fingers crossed for a move in the right direction 🙂

Lauren - I am a Great Big Fan of DSNs.

Part mother, part psychologist, part best friend - plus they actually know a lot more about the every day life of a diabetic than consultants do, let alone their knowledge of the condition itself ! Oh - they also know the best way to persuade the consultants when they have said No about something or aren't on the same wavelength as you are!

Have you chanced a look at your meter averages? - remember, usually that will be higher than your A1c is - unless you are testing 24/24 on a regular basis!

Good luck Lauren 🙂 xx

good luck heres hoping for a good level

Thanks for all the good luck, just got out of my appointment & it's a 59 which the Dsn said was about 7.5% 🙂 so happy ! Can't remember ever having it that low

Fantastic, well done 🙂

Fab result!! Well done you xx
