Hello all!

I just had my blood taken for my second hba1c... I asked the nurse what my previous one was (I have only had the 1 done) as I couldn't remember the number.
She said it was 41 and that was low however my gp said it was high when she told me previously??

is 41 high or low for a hba1c?!?!?!

Cheers!

41mmol/mol is equivalent to 5.9% which is pretty much perfect *provided* you are not having too many hypos.

At that level your team are likely to be concerned that you are having hypos when not realising it and/or are not recording them all.

More hypos = more risk + (reduced awareness*more risk)

'How many is too many?' is a question I can never really answer for myself except to say that I am now having about half as many as I once did, and still feel like that's too many!

I don't really have a lot of them however when i do have them they are noramlly quite close together...I think it is me not reducing my insulin fast enough.. They haven't said they are worried about my hypo's as it tends to be me giving myself too much insulin :( but I have been better lately if I'm not sure I give myself a lot less than I used to.

They said they would be more worried if they didn't know what was causing it... *Thought I would clarify the not worried part*
