Just had my first test since starting insulin 28 September. Was told at that time my result was "just over 100". So test last week was just under 9 weeks from starting and it is 61.

Somewhere on here I am sure I read that you should not drop too quickly but cannot remember the reason why. I am now concerned that this is a drop too fast. I see the nurse on Tuesday do I need to query it or ask any specific questions?

I have been so pleased that 95% readings are now in single figures with odd blips easily accounted for (the bath bun experiment will not be repeated!!) and upping evening units has cured late morning hypos although I now know to eat small amount of carbs after 4-5 hours.

Please advise. Thank you

Hi, it is thought there can be some increased risk of problems when your levels come down quickly, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, and is most likely to be temporary. For example, when I was diagnosed my HbA1c was 11.8% (105 mmol/mol) and 6 weeks later was 6.8% (51 mmol/mol). During this period I had some transient neuropathy pain in my feet and also some background retinopathy reported. Both these problems disappeared once my levels had been under control for a few more weeks.

It's worth talking to your nurse about to see what she says, but I think as long as you have your regular checks any problems can be identified and treated if required.
