Relationship to Diabetes

Well, I've had the blood results back & the low reading is confirmed.
The diabetes doctor say never seen anything like it, best thing is to wait three months & see what the level is then, could do fructosomine test if my GP agrees but the diabetes specialist says if it shows a higher level will just confuse things, so doesn't really recommend it.
The rheumatologist (if that what she's called in English) says the results say I'm not anaemic, so nothing to worry about , must be a problem with the diabetes
Where do I turn to now? Or do I just ignore it?

That is a real puzzle Brinley! Hard to say what to do beyond what the doctor recommends, although it does seem strange to allow such an anomaly go unexplored for 3 months without explanation. Given that your fingerprick tests seem fine maybe it's just an unfortunate coincidence and they got the test wrong again?

more like the doctors haven't got a clue what's going on & can't be or don't have the time to investigate & would rather wait another 3 months for the next result. But what happens if it's still very low then ?
I guess they will jut ask you how you feel & if you feel fine, they won't do anything.

Just wondering if you are on any other medications? I came across this article which appears to suggest that the HbA1c test can be affected by some other drugs:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3401779/

An HbA1c of 14 mmol/mol equates to 3.4%, which is similar to the second example cited.

There's also this article:

Interesting articles. I'm on thyroxine, cardirene (asprin?) & atorvastatin, so maybe the cardirene is influencing the results? Although you'd think the Dr would have come across something similar before, if that's the case. I don't think it can be that an unusual medication for a Type 1 diabetic to be on.
I'm seeing the local diabetes dr Monday afternoon now, let's see if he's more interested than the one at the big hospital, that's supposedly the centre of excellence for diabetes care here....

That's exactly what I'm worried about! Hopefully the local diabetes Dr will shed some light on it all...
