Hi

Sorry not been around, am still away so may be off line again for a few days.

Jessica had another HbA1c on Monday and I'm over the moon. It is down to 7.5%. It was 7.8% last time and 8.3% the time before.

I will be happy to settle around 7.0% if I can get her around there at some point. We did reach 7.3 once !!

🙂

i was recently diagnosed as type 2, started doing loads of walking and so far lost about 20lbs. when i finally got to see the diabetes specialist nurse my HB result was 7.1% and nurse said she didnt need to see me or put me on medication so i am now completely confused.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum 🙂 I've moved your post to its own thread so people don't miss it.

Looks like you have made a very good and determined start to improving your situation and controlling your diabetes! Congratulations on the weight loss, that and all the exercise will have made you much more sensitive to the insulin you are producing, so your blood sugar levels will be coming down. I am presuming that you have also made changes in your diet? 7.1% is very good in the early stages, and I suspect this is why the nurse did not think you need to go on any medication - if you keep on progressing like this then before long you will have things well under control. Many people with Type2 are able to maintain healthy blood sugar levels through diet and exercise - it doesn't mean they no longer have diabetes because eating the wrong food can still cause a steep rise in levels, but it does mean they are able to live healthy lives without pills.

If you have any questions, please ask🙂
