Have you switched to Libre 2+ yet?

Hi Mike
Asked GP this morning about switching to Libre 2+ , they still don’t know when it will happen, just received my 2 months supply still the same Libre 2 .
From Abbott's site for healthcare providers :

"We will be phasing out our Libre 2 sensors
in the UK at the end of August 2025.
Libre 2 Plus sensors will be replacing Libre 2 sensors."

and “Please update your patients’ prescriptions as soon as possible”

I’m surprised that your GP surgery is seemingly unaware of this.

NHS Scotland, is separate to NHS England.
I'd guess this is more related to Abbott than the NHS, though I'm sure the details vary locally. (In my case I just got a text messaging telling me my prescription was being updated. I hadn't asked, but I presume the practice pharmacist went through everyone being prescribed Libre 2 and updated them.)

As I mentioned to you on another thread, I am still using Libre 2 but I am on my last sensor with 10 days to go and the last prescription I collected last week was Libre 2+ so it has automatically been upgraded for me without request. I believe that they are using up old stock before upgrading everyone, because once people are upgraded, there is no market for the old Libre 2. As a bit of a cynic I also suspect, as with many things, that the north will be last in this process. I am in the north east so hopefully it won't be too much longer for you in Scotland.

I would not expect a GP to know when it would happen, but you might get more sense from your pharmacist.
I was probably one of the last people to upgrade from the Libre to the Libre 2 and I gained an extra Libre sensor which the pharmacy had no use for because they could not prescribe it to anyone, so I benefitted slightly from being last.

Thanks everyone for the information, just received my prescription, I’ve still got Libre2 so that’s another two months supply and I did ask the pharmacist about Libre 2+, she didn’t know when they will get it but she will enquire about it.

Yes it would need to be the prescription that changes first. The pharmacist can only issue what’s written on the script.

How many sensors do you get prescribed at once?
