Have you switched to Libre 2+ yet?

I’m still on Libre 2, when is everyone changing over to Libre 2 +. It’s been a life saver for me but not always accurate compared to a blood test , I would love to have a pump but DN said I’m coping ok just now .

@Homer - Abbott wrote an open letter to all GP surgeries during December last year, telling em Libre 2 was being stopped so to change everybody over to 2+. However - no idea what if anything either the NHS centrally or the individual boards might have done/how they've handled it.

@Homer The change to Libre 2+ should be automatic. I just picked up my new prescription last week and it now contains Libre 2+ so I am on my last Libre 2 sensor which has 11 days to go.

Not sure if you have already seen or been directed to the thread about the limitations and quirks of CGM sensors but once you understand them, it helps you to know when your Libre data is reliable and when you need to double check it with a finger prick. I will link the thread below.

Just really wanted to say that you will likely automatically get changed to Libre 2+ soon. It just depends when local supplies of Libre 2 sensors run out I think. Must confess, I am a bit wary of upgrading, as The Libre 2 works really well for me, but have no choice in the matter as Libre 2 is being discontinued.

Thanks for that, it’s that when I was at the hospital for my checkup the doc said he had not a clue when we were changing to Libre2 + , so I asked my surgery and they didn’t know too, I wonder if it’s got to be living in Scotland NHS .

Hi @Homer

This felt like a topic that would be of interest to quite a few members, so I’ve taken the liberty of splitting it (and the replies you had) away from the earlier thread about breakfast spikes.

Hopefully this will make it more easily spotted by people who are interested, or have an experience to share.

🙂

Different experience for me, my gp changed me over to the Dexcom one, apparently due to cost difference! I made the transition without any problems, although a bit more bulky I quite like the Dexcom, it’s algorithm seems a bit less aggressive, Sometimes I found the Libre would give a hypo alarm at night only then to change it’s mind a few minutes later with a higher reading and not record the supposed hypo. Obviously I checked against an fp test.

You should be changed over whenever you ask to be changed. I asked a while ago so already made the swap.

I asked at my review in December and was swapped then and there. I haven’t really noticed a difference, I think maybe it over eggs a sharp rise or fall, then evens it out later on the graph, but it may be my imagination. I never base insulin doses on what it’s telling me if I need a correction, I do a quick 'if it’s showing me 13, I’m probably about 10' and dose accordingly, if I'm not in a position to check with a fingerprick.(this is only when it’s rising sharply, when it’s steady, it’s spot on)

I’ve been on Libre 2+ for a couple of months now. I asked my GP to make the change. I added a note on my online repeat prescription. It took 2 times doing this, but they changed eventually.

Let us know how you get on with requesting the switch from your GP surgery @Homer

I self fund different CGM but am still entitled to Libre in case I am unable to fund.
A few months back, I noticed they had been removed from my prescription. When I asked for them to be replaced, they were replaced with Libre 2+.

I self fund, and Abbott seem to have only offered the Libre2+ on there we site for at least the last 6 months.

Mine was changed last year (June I think?) - I had a Libre 2 sensor fail and Abbott replaced it with a Libre 2+ one - spoke to my DSN/GP and they changed the prescription straight away

Hi Mike
Asked GP this morning about switching to Libre 2+ , they still don’t know when it will happen, just received my 2 months supply still the same Libre 2 .
I find that a curious reply by your GP, that “they still don’t know when it will happen”. Surely it’ll happen when they change your prescription? I’m not sure what else needs to happen. Unless the NHS Scotland is that different to NHS England ‍♀️.

I've never actually been prescribed the Libra2, I ve used the Libra2Plus, from the very first one (that was my free trial 9 months ago)

prior to getting CGM funded I did use a few libra2 sensors that a friends wife she had a few 2's that she could no longer use as were incompatible with her pump,
One of my Libra2Plus sensors when it failed, was replaced by Abbott and it was a 2 not 2Plus they sent, for me other than the extra day personally I would say I haven't noticed a difference between the 2 & the Plus

A few months ago I had an issue with the LibraLink app as it was playing havoc its alerts were alerting me unnecessarily (through my hearing aids which are bluetooted to my phone) I was slightly frustrated and did speak to my GP regarding possibly of switching to the DexcomOne+
he said isn't a problem, if I would prefer, although since I've turned off the alerts through LinkUp and get the alerts through a 3rd party app GlucoDataHandler, I'm quite satisfied with the Libra2Plus CGM

I asked the GP a few months ago they changed straight away, so far I find they are better and more accurate
