I have an accucheck meter and pump. I keep on having to take the batteries out of the meter (while dripping blood!) and jiggle the terminals and then put it back together. It's happened occasionally in the past but seems to gave become a daily occurrence now.

What sort of meter is it Susan? I know the Aviva Nano is well-known to have this problem, and the reason I stopped using it. Have you spoken to customer services? When I called about the Nano they told me to do what you are doing. Eventually they conceded and replaced the meter, but I had no confidence in it and haven't used it. Do you need to use the meter you have in conjunction with your pump, or could you use any meter?

Oh dear, this doesn't sound right. I have an Accu-Chek pump and meter and haven't had this problem. Have you called their helpline? It sounds as though they should replace your handset. 🙂

No medical equipment should be that unreliable! Phone Roche and ask for a replacement. 🙂

Hi
I've had this problem but it tends to occur when the room temperature is too low. (Can be a bit of a problem in an old house with an open fire in Scotland!!).
The pump rep suggested keeping the meter as close to the body as possible so that it stays at the correct temperature. I stick it on the radiator instead and that seems to work ok.

I had this problem with my first Accu Chek Combo meter. It's a problem with the battery terminals. Customer Care told me to carefully bend out the terminals to improve the contact with the batteries, but the problem continued. They then replaced the meter and I've had no issues since then. It was a bit of a faff to re-pair the Bluetooth connection between the meter and the pump though.

Thanks everyone. You've reinforced my views. Will get it sorted tomorrow.
