Relationship to Diabetes

So tonight as I changed the needle to do my basal, I managed to knock the only nice piece of jewellery I own off my bedside table. Of course, I watched in slow motion horror as my lovely diamond ring sailed into the sharps bin.

Now luckily, I have tiny arms and it's a large sharps bin, so I thought, no problem! I'll fish it out! Insert arm, carefully feel for ring (very, very carefully), locate ring and withdraw arm. Arm gets stuck. 😱

Good lord. Took me about 20 minutes to free my right arm from the bin of used needles. The cat was watching me with a bemused look on her face the whole time.

Made me wonder if anyone else has gotten themselves into any situations as a direct result of the diabetes? I can't be the only one! 😳 :D

May one enquire why, if the hole is that blooming big - you didn't simply tip the contents out, sort through it and remove the bling, then chuck the sharps back in the bin - in fact do it onto a sheet of paper so it's easier to get em back in.

I haven't got a degree in logic myself Sprog, but ...... 😱 🙂

It's not a huge hole...just about big enough for me to squeeze my arm in. I thought it would be a quick case of arm in arm out but clearly I was mistaken lol! In all fairness this was at about 11:30pm so I was pretty tired at the time 😳

We left our two sons, one with T! at home whilst we went on holiday several hundred miles away. Son without diabetes went off to the local retail shopping centre leaving T! son home alone, T1 son's friends came around and couldn't get an answer when knocking front door. Looking through his bedroom window (bungalow) they saw him in bed. Still no response as they banged on the window so they thought he had gone into a diabetic coma, so they phone 999 for an ambulance. Ambulance arrives, they can't get into bungalow. So they contact the police. I should point out at this stage that on previous going away holidays we had been burgled on three separate occasions and as a consequence had 'fortified' the property. The police then called the fire brigade to assist in breaking in. They did not take the easy route instead they broke down the side entrance door and then the back door. They enter my T1 son's bedroom, awake him with a quick shake. He jumps up, EARPHONES come off.............. Meanwhile, other son comes back to find an ambulance. police and fire vehicles outside home, doors smashed, literally within less than an hour.
For the sake of clarity both sons were in their early to mid twenties. So I suppose you could say that was caused by diabetes🙂🙂

Wow! - I love his friends even though they caused your door to be broken down, Dave! What really good mates for him to have.

Absolutely Jenny. Strangely enough he never told his employer or workmates- until one day he had a bad hypo. Of course they didn't know quite what to do so they called the ambulance out then contacted me.
Kids!
