Not bothered I have been buying and taking my own for a few months!

Goodness - we registered for it well before Xmas, as soon as we heard about it.

Yeah, same time as we hear we can go for our jabs in the morning on a day I or we need to be elsewhere for another medical appointment most likely .......

I just heard Ken Clarke on Radio 4 explaining why the extra £20 benefit has to be stopped - though the argument was lost on me thanks to his nasty boorish manners.
I suspect that now there is a vaccine there will be a big rush to push into poverty - keeping so many people poor really is not the way to get a booming economy and I can't understand why that is not obvious

I have copied this from the Which? website don't know if any help...
Update for 4 December 2020: The UK government has announced it will supply free vitamin D supplements to those most at risk of coronavirus in the winter months. People on the clinically extremely vulnerable list will be contacted and can opt for a supply delivered to their door, with deliveries due to start in January.

For which the hast date for registering was 4th January 2021. It's the 20th Jan tomorrow, I thought I'd left it long enough - they're quick enough to ask us for things they need aren't they!!

extra £20 benefit
not everyone on a benefit received extra, I'm on JSA and haven't seen a penny extra throughout so those that were receiving extra have been lucky to get for months, we're all struggling yet some get handed more, not right imo

Yeah huge debate about this on many other forums I am a member of. It should of been across the board.

People are saying it was done intentionally to get people off legacy benefits and onto UC quicker and that way they could access the extra but saves the DWP a job later having to transfer.

Yes it should have been, I've just had a quick search and per month someone on UC is already getting £112.49 more than I am on JSA and then they are currently getting £20 extra on top of that! It doesn't sit well xx

Not sure of the figures but I knew it was a lot more. I know they have a review coming up but I have a feeling they will agree to keep it in place. The Times also reported that another option they were considering is taking the £20 extra away and giving them all on UC a one off payment of £500 instead.

Unreal! £70 odd a week I'm on with board, groceries and bills coming out and added to that there are basically no shops in my town so have had to rely on online for things for almost a year which mounts up in delivery costs etc yet there's people getting far more moaning about being hard up xx

I totally sympathise. I get JSA too, although I do get PIP as well, however my PIP is used wisely and pays for various services and items I need to help with my disability, so I don’t really get extra to spend on what I want.

Numerous times I’ve been advised to go onto ESA/or UC and ask for a capability assessment but I refuse because my disability won’t stop me from working I just need reasonable adjustments which I am entitled to, so therefore can still work.

I heard someone talking about benefits the other day, are you getting less because you live with mum? They were suggesting this can be the case! I have actually remembered the guy talking works in the offices dealing with claimants,

@MarkGeordie it wouldn't be so difficult to get by if there was more available in the town I'm in but with only 1 "affordable" supermarket and not much else it's an absolute nightmare!

@grovesy no 25 years + entitlement is £74.35 a week
xx

@trophywench, Vitamin D3, at the levels suggested in the literature is very cheap to buy - especially when you consider itt is a keystone nutrient in bone and cardiac health, as well as it's potential impact on coin with COVID.

Personally, having a wonky thyroid, I need to keep a close eye on my Vitamin D levels, and I need to take more than 1000iu to keep my levels decent.

I also take D3 with K2-Mk7, which various papers uphold helps the body metabolise calacium into the bones and not leave it sloshing about on parts where it isn't so desirable.

I applaud the government for offering help, but personally, I'd want the K2-Mk7 alongside it.

When I started in VitD - having found out I was deficient, my GP prescribed a loading dose, but no K2, so I added the K2 alongside. So, that could also be something to consider.
