Harriseahead retail manager tells of the challenges type 1 diabetes sufferers face

RETAIL manager Caroline Price is often congratulated when people notice her swollen tummy.

But the 45-year-old isn't expecting her first child. Instead she is suffering the effects of type 1 diabetes.

Caroline was diagnosed with the condition when she was 17 after she suddenly lost a lot of weight and was always thirsty.

Since then, she has had to cope with several misconceptions about the condition.
