Hi all
I know i'm not the 1st to say this.
I have to confess, for weeks now i have been eating badly
Doughnuts, chocolate peanuts, chocolate, crisps & the odd chocolate orange slice cake, to top it all no exercise apart from the long walks with the dog & my camera:(
This all started when my back flared up again & i had to leave my job, as not allowed to bend, twist or turn...Awaiting an op...I am not one for sitting doing nothing.
I have gained a little weight but not too much.
This is totally out of character for me and depression has set in along with the hate diabetes, i hate myself for doing this and yes i know better not to do it, i know about the long term effects, i also know what to do to correct it, i just have a stupid stuburn devil of a diabetes fairy stopping me.
I am really stuggling to get back on track.
I really need an exercise coach and some of you lot to kick my backside into gear. lol..."be firm with me"!
I have made my 1st move by comming here to confess and alter my ways as i have had enough of suffering in silence.

Sorry for rattling on, i needed to get this off my chest.

Have a great easter everyone and stay safe.

Well done for admitting it . I'm in the same boat at the moment. Even down to back problems (just on painkillers though). Your certainly not on your own. I struggle keeping it up. I do well for a day or so then slip back into bad eating/not testing as much as I should. Good luck hun xxx

While waiting for your back surgery, have you been offered / asked your GP for referral to an "exercise on prescription" programme and / or physiotherapy? Most areas offer free / reduced price swimming, gym sessions etc.

Hello Sweetsatin,

I want to say how brave you are first of all by admitting that on the board and just shows what strength and courage you do have. I too struggle and have done for many years but through being honest and coming here I now get the support I need from genuine people.

What about setting yourself some realistic goals, keeping a food and thought journal each day and joining the weight loss group we would all be happy to welcome you there?

Wishing you a happy Easter hun and please do keep us posted x

Right then sweetsatin and also you loubie.

Go out side find a big stick and draw a line in the mud.

Now take one day at a time to start to get back on track. Those naughty temping snacks need to be disposed of. Sweetsatin can you see a physiotherapy till your op who can maybe help with a bit of exercise etc.

I know it is a struggle, but you also known deep down you can get your control back, keep coming here for help and we will all give you as much support as possible x

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling :( I go through periods where I'm not behaving well with respect to my diabetes, and it seems that, although you are fully aware of how self-destructive it is, the very fact that you are feeling down about it makes it even harder to wrest back control!

I find that setting goals helps. I've currently got a big goal, but one where I can mark progress towards it in little steps and I find it helps to keep me motivated to see things gradually moving towards the goal. I also become quickly overwhelmed with guilt if I do not record any improvements for a few days!

As Copepod suggested, getting advice from a physio as to what exercise you can do would be a great help. I hope that you do not have to wait too long for your operation, and that you are able to find employment again when you are back to full fitness 🙂

Hi Sweetsatin,

Actually I think you have already made the first step without realising it - by admitting your problem and telling us about it.

Now its about where you want to go from here.

Do you want to now go full blown healthy again from the start - in which case sit down today and plan this weeks menus and then write a shopping list for the food you need and stick to it - no hidden extras in the basket.

Then write down everything you eat each day - maybe allow one small treat a day?

OR

If not ready to launch 100% in to it - why not decide that each day you are going to make a small change - swap one piece of naughty food for something healthier and then by the end of the week you will feel better in yourself.

Which ever you choose, start by joining in the WLG today - weigh yourself and set a goal for this week (even if its just 1lb off). You don't have to say how much you weigh - just state next week how you have done. If you don't manage to lose don't worry still pop in and tell us and we will keep supporting you until you are back on track!

You can do it!:D

I had physio few years back until they found the problem.
I have 3 large bulging herniated disc pertruding towards the spine with compression of corda equina.
Exercise is difficult at the moment, hence the long walks and the photography.

Thank you for your advice anyway copepod

Hi all
Thank you for your advice that shall be taken on board.
A diary is a good motivation start point, thank you Alan & sazzaroo.
Lucy, yes i guess i have made the 1st step without realising, i posted the thread in my mind as to put me to shame and punnish myself, kick myself into gear.
I did it once so i know i can do it again.
"I'm not ready for that wheelchair yet"!
I knew i would get some good advice and support here from my friends.
Loubie come on we will do this together.
Comming in here and posted what i have has put me in a possitive mood and has lifted a weight off my shoulders.
I knew i could of come here and got support earlier, but i had to be ready myself to make the change.
Small steps and goals are in the planning, my zumba will have to go on hold till i'm better🙂
Thank you all so much.

Was lovely to read your last post Sweetsatin, looks like things have turned round for you already and am pleased to help. Good luck lovi and keep us posted on your success x
