Today is a special day in the Diabetic Calendar. Today’s the day we change the lancet on our BG meters.

I’ve been desperate to do mine for the last couple of days, but managed to hold off. Well, I couldn’t let the side down, could I? 😉

I've changed mine to a nice green one today.

Who is St Swithin ? do we get a day off work if not I don't want to know :D

He was Bishop of Winchester better known for performing miracles after his death. They say if it rains on St Swithin's Day it will rain for 40 days. No bank holiday I am afraid. Worryingly it has got very overcast and I need the lights on!
Scary shall I get my Brolly

Looking very grey here too - bit worrying as I have to go to the Docs by bus - which will involve a 10 min walk - a bit later.

Thanks for the reminder @eggyg.

St Swithin is clearly still performing miracles after his death.... ie causing many diabetics across the country to change their lancet seems pretty miraculous to me!!
Bit of a waste now that I rarely use my lancet due to Libre but I like tradition so will rein in my need to minimize waste for the sake of upholding a time honoured and sacred custom! 😉
New green one just installed and that is me done for another year.

Oh blast forgot, Thanks for reminding me. now where did I put my box of lancets lol

It’s been scorchio here all day, so don’t worry, no 40-day drizzle on the horizon, phew.

Where do I get these lovely colourful lancets that some of you are lucky enough to use? Mine are a boring old grey.

All of mine have been boring charcoal grey and white cassettes for the last 10+ years and being a damn sight finer than yer bog standard lancet, don't last anywhere near so long! However, the box I am currently using and has very few left in now, was prescribed in 2018 and I already ordered and got a new box this year, ready. I accidentally ordered 2 boxes one after the other in 2018, hence why they're so old.

I have treated myself to a new cassette today though, cos you have to ! it's compulsory.

I am sure @Northerner MUST have penned a poem about this!
