What levels are you happy with your bloods being?

Because I've been struggling with my control recently I'm happy with levels under 10.5 but if its below 8 I'm even happier. Obviously the more they are within 4-7 range the better but I don't want too set my self up for a fall with trying to get to tighter control to quickly hence the slightly higher levels I'm happy with for now. Just wondered if anyone else was like this and what range you prefered.

Xx

Lou,

Pretty much the same as you really,I always want mine to be in single figures but you don't always get what you want with D.I don't despair if I happen to get a 10.1 for example but this morn I was gutted at a 12 but I was Ill

Its always better to have steadily dropping levels and I suppose everyone has there own preferences to suit their current circumstances.........

I try to aim for 5.5 with spikes of 9 or below, does this happen, not all the time I can assure you, but that's my aim.......🙂

Like you I've struggled to get my numbers into, or indeed, anywhere near the zone. I've been wondering the same as you too about how strictly I need to try and control things now I'm getting to where I should be. These days I'm managing most of the time to stay above 5 and below 9 but 'they' want me to try and stay under 7. How? What do 'they' expect me to do that I'm not already doing?

I generally wake up at around 7 (bg, not time!) generally am below 8.5 2 hours after food and rarely see a double figure, but if I do I can nearly always see why. I too wonder just how paranoid I need to be, especially as sometimes I am lower than I would reasonably expect and sometimes the opposite.

I have my first HbA1c on Friday and am very curious to see the result. Fingers crossed I am under 8 - that would be good as tbh I have not been particularly 'good' of late and have been very poorly with 2 major asthma attacks resulting in needing some steroid help.
I think the tricky thing is getting the balance right; caring enough about yourself to be sensible without becoming a total martyr and misery who spends her whole life working out what can and cannot be eaten.
