In May last year I was diagnosed and went through all the worries associated with being "dropped in the deep end". The help and support I received from members on this forum and just by reading posts from others gave me hope.

I have just returned from a diabetes review at my surgery where I was given the news that my HbA1c that was 94 last May is now........37!

I am just so happy that I had to share it. Changing what I eat, just a little, and being more active along with two Metformin twice a day seems to be working. Just hoping that the glitch on my kidney function test isn't anything serious.

So keep at it all of you, there is light at the end of the tunnel

Mike

Excellent 🙂

Nice! Well done.

Great results, @Mike P, well done! :D

That is an absolutely fantastic result. Very well done! I hope you are able to reduce or come off the medication and maintain that level, but even if not, it is a tremendous achievement.

That's brilliant, Mike. Well done. As it happens I have a DN review later today, having had bloods done last week, so hopefully I'll be sharing some similar news later.

A result like that makes all the effort worthwhile and shows newly diagnosed T2s what can be achieved. Any suggestion you could reduce or cut out the medication?

Martin

No mention of reducing meds, further review in 6 months. Will discuss further then, have to see if I can keep the readings low.

Great to hear of your success Mike.
Well done

Hi again.

Had my review - 41, down from 56 in May and a long way down from 114 in March. DN was astonished. Like you I have to stick with the regime and keep it down. No going back.

Martin
Well done Martin. Keep it up and with any luck you will stay in the normal range. I lost a lot of weight while ill in hospital last year which I think has helped me, wouldn't recommend it as a weight loss method though. I now just have to keep my weight stable and continue to be good and avoid those carb rich foods that I so loved in the past. The one thing I really miss is cake, however by having a small slice very occasionally as a treat helps and doesn't seem to adversely affect my BG readings. My DN said "be careful over what you eat but don't forget to have a life". I know now that I can get on top of the problem so if tempted by something on the forbidden list I know that will a bit of hard work I can negate the effects and get any increased BG back down again.

Hi Mike, that’s brilliant news, well done and lovely to hear good news. Thanks for sharing x
