Hand Cream Suggestions Welcome

As I've said I want a tube of thinner stuff for quick applications during the day

So, a small tub of the same cream wouldn't work.
How about a smaller tub cut down with water, or a similar liquid.
Still delivered sealed.

That sounds like an excellent suggestion from @KathC especially if you can post the pictures you have of your hands and explain you concerns about the creams.

Savlon i used to use when i got a tattoo. That comes in a box and not overly expensive!

Have you tried Calendula cream? It’s very healing, I used to use it for my kids' cuts and grazes as well as chapped skin. Nelsons is available from Amazon or Holland and Barrett, and seems to come in a box still (it always used to when I bought it,) I wonder if this was the homeopathic sort of thing that @Freddie1966 was thinking of.
It might work out too expensive, though, if you feel you need to slap it on. If you use a thin layer, it’s just as effective and last ages, but it is around a fiver for a 30ml tube, which is quite small.

I'll take a look for this, I'm having to apply something everytime I wash my hands just to get some relief xx

@Kaylz - Would your partner, or your Mum help you decant some cream into a reusable tube that could be refilled as many times as you need it to be?

I have been really so impressed by Lidl's own Cien brand of handcream, in the "Intensive" variant. It disappears in a moment and carries no heavy scent. How about if it could be taken from a fresh box, into a food bag you took into the store? Nobody would have touched it before you?

If you wanted to decant something, then our Lidl currently have refillable silicone tubes, in a pouch, sold in a sealed package.

Finally, if you have a cream you like but it's a bit "heavy", you could add something like a little aloe vera gel to make it a little thinner? That would ten go into a reusable tube, small squeezy bottle or pump maybe a pump pot, from say, handwash, for dispensing.

Mum wouldn't and I'm not sure Bruce could, he has enough trouble with his own hands so the slightest squeeze causes his to bleed we're a right pair! 🙄

I liked the Lidl SOS and their chamomile one but the SOS is far too thick to use just now

I'll take a look online for those refillable silicone tubes, I didnt know they existed! I could refill it myself using one hand for the "clean" item and my other for the "contaminated" and then just wash my hands 6 times 🙄 I still haven't ventured out so your idea for getting from a fresh box wouldnt work, also Lidl has been sparse on a lot these last few weeks, hoping its became they have just had a refurb and things will be appearing back!

I'll take a look for some aloe vera gel too to cut thicker creams with xx

Some of the Aveeno baby ones come in a box. It may be worth looking in the ‘mum and baby’ sections of pharmacies and supermarkets and seeing what comes boxed. I think Lansinoh would be good for your hands but I suspect you wouldn’t like the texture. If you can cope with the feel of beeswax then some Bert’s Bees stuff comes in packages.

If you’re up for making your own I use a mix of olive oil, coconut oil and a little beeswax. It’s oily obviously but soaks in very quickly so you’re not left with greasy hands.

If it is something you want for using at home, how about a wall mounted automatic dispenser which you just put your hands under and it squirts a shot of cream or lotion which you could fill with what ever suits you. Not too expensive on Amazon.

Some will actually sit on a surface or you could use self adhesive pads to attach to any smooth surface like a mirror.

Actually Kaylz, you might find the aloe itself could work for you. My OH is a real advocate of aloe vera get. Any spot, rash or cut it's dolloped on. It definitely doesn't leave any greasy film because it simply isn't greasy.

We buy it by the kilo!

I had a quick look online and there's a tub by Dr Organic 200ml for just over £5 so when I get paid I might order that xx

I don't have a free surface in my room and the only place would be above the radiator so not ideal and not keen on adhesive pads as may damage when removed and my mum may get billed when she moves out as as soon as I'm off she wants to go to a 1 bedroom xx

It's not handcream per se but it is thin, comes in a box, is not greasy, doesn't contain perfumes or the like and it is inexpensive from Sainsburys. It's probably available from other retailers but he was doing the weekly shop so was in Sainsbugs anyway.

Personally I’d not mess with my hands. It might be infected or it might just be dry. Whatever a nurse will look and see if she feels it needs more. All hand creams are moisturisers and barriers with or without scent . Vaseline is one of the best barriers as in petroleum jelly. I see sore hands and you however would need to protect them by wearing gloves .Gloves can be nasty though as they hold wet hot breeding bacteria moisture. So if you have wet gloves this. Could cause this or friction is another. If it gets infected it can be difficult to break the cycle and antibiotics are needed. I like working hands by O Keefe too but I’d still get medical advice or at least ask in chemist .

@Nayshiftin thanks but I'm not "messing" with my hands, after 14 years of contamination OCD this is nothing new for me and actually tame on a few occasions in the past, BUT I was able to touch loose tubes of cream with any other bad bout unlike this time and also my bouts have never gone on for well over a year before, I don't like prescribed creams as they leave a layer and that isn't easy to wash off meaning I wash my hands even more times in a visit to the sink and I think the minimum 6 times I'm doing it at the moment is quite enough, I don't need to see anyone

Ah I did not fully grasp the situation. That’s is a lot to cope with . All the best of luck . Have you tried the Aveeno range ?
