Sorry, it's been a really Sh*t day at work. Does anyone know a decent employment lawyer in Manchester? Am not sure I can go back there again!

Was asked if I thought some work I had done was reflective of my work in general. Said how could it be when I was signed off work with anxiety and depression during that time!!! They know when I was off sick!

Think their assumption is my depression started on the day I was signed off and finished when I returned to work! But am still on anti-depressants 6 months later!

Had just started to feel like me again and now feel really down again. Promise to stop crying at some point this year!!!

Thanks for listening! :(

BIG HUGS suziepoo. sorry I cant do anymore for you but as a long time suffer of depression myself i totally sympathize and understand xxx

Sorry to hear this Suziepoo, I can empathise :( When I returned to work after several weeks off at my old company they seemed to expect me to be firing on all cylinders, whereas I was having to make a real effort just to get there and a long way off being recovered. It's the way some management are, they seem to live their lives suspicious that their workforce are out to deceive them and get away with things, rather than thinking how difficult it must be and treating you with respect. Just do your best - no-one can ask any more from another person! 🙂

I don't know what job you have , but are you in a union? They should be able to give you advice.
How horrid , we care even if - at the moment - they don't seem to !

Take care

I can help you with a firm. A friend of mine needed an employment lawyer recently. Can't remember name, but I will text her and post name. They were amazing. The company she worked for discriminated against her, heath issues including depression. X

SS daniels is the company. You will find them on the internet.
Hope you sort work asap. X

thanks for that dizzydi! Will look into them and contact them depending on outcome. Although I need the money, part of me wants the sack just to get out of here!

Feel bit more positive today - printing off all the documents I might need for a tribunal. Found some I had forgotten about which confirms the way I do some work is agreed by our department!

Sadly, we don;t have a union otherwise I would have gone straight to them!

😎

You might try talking to CAB. If they can't help you themselves, they should know who can.

Sorry you are not being treated well. Do you have a HR department? Could you talk to them and say although you are back at work, you need time to get back into the swing of things and incidents like this are more likely to see you off again rather than being the useful confident person you want to be.

The stress and frustration of going to law could make you feel much worse - just a warning, it is up to you but if you can resolve it without resorting to law, so much the better.

Have a look round for other jobs, register with some agencies and just feel better that you are not going to take the sh*t - oops almost typed it in full.

Also its just occurred to me, did you have a staged return to work and if not, could you perhaps have one now instead?

I would before contacting expensive employment laywers speak to CAB and the Disability Discrimination people both will give you very good legal advise, how to address the matter and what you can do to resolve everything..

As you can insist that due to your medical conditions that the companies occupational health involvement, who will look at your medical conditions, work patterns/loads etc and help to advise how these can be addressed both short and long term to all's best advanage!

Problem with seeking advise from employment laywers, is they don't come under the Legal Aid scheme and I know in my area none provide any advise free even to determin if you have a case against your employer or not..

If you speak to the Disability Discrimination they know the DDA act inside out, can advise how to proceed forward while you'll still in your company employment to avoid unfair sacking or discrimination, how to proceed to resolve issuse's and if you are sacked and have a cliam they do the legal work etc without any cost to you..

Sadly, HR and OH have been involved in this. I've also given a copy of my psychologist report and 1 from my GP. However, they're nit-picking on really small things and I think they had already made their mind up months ago.

Either way, I'll find out tomorrow and if I keep my job I will be looking to retrain quickly and get out.

I will take your advice and contact CAB. Thanks for your offer Dizzydi - might just take you up on it!
