Can you not push for a refferal to hospital as these are the people who supply the pumps and do the training. Also many whoose GP restrict thier supplies find they also help get help to push the GPs to supply necessary supplies.

I get the hospital to push gp supplies but thy just ignore them the dr I was seeing has now left the n gone to different surgery he's been my dr since birth all the other Drs don't really care I can't get in to have my medication review n I had phone call coz of last bloods n tried getting in since before May can't get in coz thy merged with 3 different Drs I been to Preston to report them n everything n still nothing happened I have been carb counting for 5 years n still on sign I feel like no one listen to me thy didn't with my sons conditions either n mummy knew best I was right took them two yrs to diagnose h with an milk allergy he could of been really hurt by drinking it

Hello Donna, you need to write a stinking letter to your GP regarding the test strips. It's illegal to limit your test strips and highly dangerous as well.

Are you under a consultant at a hospital, if not demand a referral immediately.
What insulin are you using?

The hospital have wrote 6 letters in less then me yr to my gp it doesn't. Make a difference thy don't care obviously everyone only gets tht amount but when I go to boots some ppl get 4 but hey don't have same Drs well thy didn't until 3 of our surgeries have merged together n my medication thy will only give me 4 weeks worth at a time, I am under a consultant at the hospital but I don't like him he's very rude n there only him or the children's one I'm on apidra n tojueo of a night gonna put my bk ground insulin up agin tonight

Can you then not change Doctors and change to another consultant.
Diabetes UK have a helpline, sorry I don't know the number, it is on the main site, give them a ring.

If link does not work it is simply Lancashire Medicines Management Group guidelines for the home monitoring of blood glucose May 2017

Shocked that you need to buy your test strips, thats is just wrong.....50 a month is not good either......I find it strange that limits are put on type one diabetics....when my strips run out [100 strips a go] I just order more.....have you tried ordering more and if so where you denied them?

It sounds like you haven't had any kind of dose adjustment training and you will be needing this training if you want a pump.....

do you know if there is anything available at your clinic....?

Hi @Donna radford really sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having. The Diabetes UK Helpline number Grovesy mentioned is 0345 123 2399 if you'd like to talk to someone about this.

You can also use one of our online tools to write to your local health care authority about your problems. We have a template letter precisely for people who have had their test strips restricted - you just need to add your details. Link here: https://goo.gl/zKgq79
