Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi,
Had 6 units for dinner last night and had nuggets and chips and three beers then I take 8 units for my lantus. Woke up at 2 and it was 4.9 which I quite low for me so I woke up went downstairs and had a tea with half a sugar. Fell back asleep on the sofa and at about 4ish woke up and I had dropped to 2.
Will this be because I injected too much for my dinner or because of my slow insulin before bed?

It could be the alcohol, do you carb count and adjust? While the liver is busy dealing with the alcohol it can cause lows so many find they need to have a snack after a drink, I just gave up drinking personally as it wasn't worth the hassle in my eyes lol xx

Yeah I carb counted the dinner and then usually the beer makes me go high so I took some for that. Usually if I have a good drink then it does go lower later on from the alcohol. But not usually with three beers

Injecting for the beer probably didn't help, yes initially it will make you spike but as you know can cause a drop later on but nobody can give a definite answer to your question from 1 incident I'm afraid, to tell if other factors were involved you'd have to look for a pattern forming and make adjustments based on that xx
