Went to London yesterday with husband to see stepchildren. Prior to going out I tested and was a reasonal 5; tested when I returned home 4hrs later and was a 7.9.

However, we went to an 'all your can eat' restaurant where I had the following:-

Glass of diet pepsi plus 2 glasses of water

Stir-fried vegetables (broccolli, cauliflour)
pitta bread (2 small triangles)
mixed salad including diced beetroot & onion plus a tea-spoon full of humous
chicken tikka pieces (small portion)/plus stirred fried beef (small portion)
Sushi x 2 pieces
spoonful of steamed basmati rice
2 small vegetable spring-rolls
(small portion of each)

for dessert a bowl of ice-cream & a small strawberry mousse (the latter was in a very small glass jar; same size as a candle holder).

Would I have gone massively over my limit in terms of sugar rise following the above; it was all healthy..except the ice-cream which was a treat plus I sipped water in between.

To recap 5 prior to going out; 4 hours later 7.9 and woke up with a 5.7 this morning... (high for me).

Its not often we eat-out and I tried to go for all the healthy options.. but now I'm just thinking would I have gone very high during the 3hrs we we're out...?

I very much doubt that you would have gone particularly high as your control is generally very good now and there doesn't sound to be a lot of carbohydrate in what you ate. The higher than normal levels after 4 hours may simply have been due to stress/excitement from being out and about. It won't have had any lasting effect on your health 🙂 Glad to hear you treated yourself and had a nice time! 🙂

I was gonna say stress of unfamiliar surroundings - even though it's nice stress, it's still stress!

I always have the same prob going on hols - have I packed everything? Where are the passports/tickets? Will we catch the plane/ferry/train etc? Where is my suitcase on this carousel/in the bowels of the coach? Which coach is it? What's our room like?

LOL

It might have had something to do for waiting for a cab in what felt like minus 10 with a very drunken husband...😱
Was freezing when we returned to B&B - thought about sleeping in my coat as the quilt was meant for the summer I'm sure; and didn't want to wake anyone up for a spare blanket... So glad christmas is only once a year...

I am stresisng a little over numbers because I've tried really hard over christmas and haven't done as much exercise/walking as I would normally; mostly due to weather; festive period and visiting family/friends... must make more of an effort....

I was very stressed; hoping drunken husband wasn't going to fall over at the taxi rank; the yearly christmas meet-up with stepchildren (in London) was more alcohol based than normal; husband is normaly very good but the drinks we're flowing...and there was me with a glass of iced water...grrrrr.

It was also freezing last night; taxi took forever and I was silently preying husband wasn't going to fall over... oh the shame...😱

So glad we live in Birmingham - hope there was no CCTV....:D
