Well it's that time of year again. Off to the docs this evening to find out blood test results from end of year review.
Last year HbA1c was 53 (or 7% in old money).

I'll go with a guess of 50 x

I'll go for a 6.8% - not got used to the new numbers yet! In fact I've never been given mine in mmol/mol even though they are supposed to be for the last 2 years!

????8.6!(71)?????
Didn't quite get the lecture I expected. Yet another pill prescribed. No lectures about weight: "Your metabolism is screwed". My weight at present is 18 stone on a 5 ft 1 " frame.
Got an agreement of sorts: if no improvement in HbA1c in 12 months, he will refer me to consultant for Byetta (after much whingeing on my part).
Not entirely surprised with HbA1c result, have moaned to GP and dietician for ages, classic deaf ears prevailed.
On plus side cholesterol down and blood pressure at its lowest for five years.
On my way out Dr says: "I've just been diagnosed Type 2, know how you feel!"

Ack! Sorry to hear this Nicky :( But you sound determined to get those numbers down, so wishing you all the best - if there's anything we can do to keep you motivated or help in any way, let us know 🙂 At least the doc will have some idea of what it actually means now - hopefully he's not one of those who expects your experience to match his, and accepts that people cac be affected in different ways.

Good luck 🙂
