Hi All,

Because Steffie has told me I have to........!!

Would you like to have a guess at my very first HBA1c next week?
I am not sure what info to give you other than the following:

1) First fasting in June 7.9
2) Lost 2 stone since June
3) Exercised every day and employed a personal trainer once a week.
4) Some BG's been over 8.5 to 10 post meal, but generally morning test is in 6's now and sometimes even 5's.
5) Not on any meds - jsut d/e

So.....what will it be....

OI i never she is fibbing lol.

After seeing all that i'll go for a eye opening 6.2

i am going for a 6.9 cos you have lost so much weight well done !!!🙂

Glad I asked - for some reason I was expecting 5's. I would have been disappointed if not had you all guessing first.
should I fast for my annual review?

no lucy you dont need to fast unless for some reason they tell you too xx

You don't need to fast for HbA1c, but sometimes if you are having a cholesterol test as well they will ask you to fast for 12 hours (i.e. usually overnight and no breakfast). It's a tricky one as it's your first! But you have done a terrific job of educating yourself and adapting your diet and lifestyle, so I'm going to go for 5.9% 🙂

I always find that it's best not to get everything that I want straight away! 🙂

But from what I've seen so far, I'd be surprised if you don't hit the 5's pretty soon.

I will go for 6.1 - good luck :D

So - re my other thread today we have joint winners Cazcot (6.1) and Northerner(5.9).
I was bang in the middle at 6%.

Is that normal for a non-diabetic?

Normal readings range between 3-6, so congrats, your normal..😎

3 would be dangerously low - I doubt anyone who is healthy would have an HbA1c that low, as they would be hypoing all the time - it's not just diabetics who are considered hypo below 3.5 mmol/l 😱 I'f expect the normal healthy range to be between 4 and 6.
