Like so many on here, I had a HbA1c done on 24 May. Alongside that I had cholesterol, liver and kidney function, vit D as all were wonky back in December.

I've heard diddly from the GP so rang them this afternoon.

"All normal, no further action."

Marvellous. And they were going to tell me, when?

Have requested authorisation code for MyGP app but super unhelpful. You can bet your life they'd have been all over me like a bad rash had my stats got worse!

Can you request a print out? These are your results so I don't see why not. Super unhelpful as you say!

Ha! Doubtful. They're still at the point of not letting anyone in without an appointment. If the auth code doesn't come through, I'll try that approach.

But still grrrr.

I would be grrr too. Don't see how they can refuse. They can post it to you.

Somehow they still have an address for me from 4 years ago!

My surgery have been a lot better recently, a new manager I think, they will give you the numbers if you ask. At one time if you wanted a print out you had to pay for it.

Mine didn' even bother to tell me I was pre diabetic.

I only found out that I had become diabetic when I ended up in hospital seriously ill with diabetes !!!.

Utter incompetence or uncaring or just too much going on to actually deliver individual patient care.

To be honest I probably couldn't do any better with so much work and stress that they have. But it is so annoying and upsetting as a patient.

You can register on the NHS App for England if that's where you live - you need NHS number, email, mobile number etc once verified - this took about a 12 hour wait for me - you can access your GP health records and test results on there and Covid vaccines. It's the main NHS app and you can order prescriptions as well.

Ta. Will try that.

I always assumed that it was up to me to phone for my blood results.
My surgery wouldn't normally contact me unless there was a problem.
Having said that, my GP did call me when I went from HbA1c of 142 to 42 after 3 months. She was as excited about that result as I was and called me at 9pm at night. I can't believe the hours some of these people work.

For HbA1c, I'm also registered on MyDiabetesMyWay and my results appear there.

I never hear mine and have to chase even when things need attention. So i joined Patient Access today similar to NHS app and filled in registration form and photographic ID and proof of address then handed to surgery to await email with code i think to activate it all so i can view everything. Not all surgeries offer this though.
Last time i did ask for a printout of results and was sent one within a week.

My surgery require you to ask separately for access to your test results once you are set up on their system

Hi. No need to rely on paper print outs or the call that never comes. Ask to be added to the surgery's online system including test results. The surgery MUST provide this unless they have a very good reason; it's an NHS instruction of 2 years ago. If they refuse ask to see the Practice Manager and inform the PPG group. The NHS App relies on this access to work as well.

I will just have to see how it works when i get set up. Anything will be better than 20 mins getting through on the phone.

My surgery used to send a text message for blood results just saying either "no action required" or "contact surgery," but that seems to have stopped. And today I learned that includes even when something was wrong with them.

My surgery replaced Patient Access with their own mobile app that, unlike Patient Access, only works on the newest phones and cannot be access via the web which means I no longer have online access. And as this happened just before the first lockdown and I was shielding was quite a problem. After a month of not being able to get any shopping because they kept ignoring my request they inform the government I had been told to shield I had to get my M.P. to intervene. I did speak to the practice manage after that, but they did not seem to care.

So when I again had a problem getting help from the surgery, I followed the instructions on the N.H.S website and complained to N.H.S. England. I included that, in my opinion, they were breaking the requirement to provide online access if they are only providing an app to propriety phone platforms and only available to those who can afford the latest phones. N.H.S. England refused to accept the complaint because I had complained to them before and said I would need to complain to the parliamentary ombudsman! I contacted my M.P. again but have no idea what happened after that and I gave up caring.

The N.H.S. app does work on my phone, and it says I need to contact the surgery to get access to my G.P. records. But it also says when I log in that it will soon stop working and I will need a newer phone, so it does not seem worth doing when it will go away at any minute. I intend to get a new phone later in the year, so can sort out access then.

My GP surgery have Patient Access, had to fill a form in and take in ID to have online access to test results and then took about 10 days to be activated. I now see I have been borderline for a couple of things but was just told ‘normal no action’ when I phoned. They also have my BMI as being 27.7? It’s never been that so no idea where that came from and is something I will have changed next time I need an appointment

It could be that they’ve put your height in wrong if not your weight. My BMI is down as being low because they incorrectly have my height recorded at 6ft5 rather than 5ft6
