I'm going to have to whizz my food up in a blender for the next few days (had a tooth out), which raises a bunch of questions! 🙄

Does anyone have experience of injecting insulin and drinking their food instead of eating it? Do I need to inject less insulin because the food is digested more quickly, e.g.?

😛

The carbs won't change if the food is blended, you may find the glucose hits the bloodstream slightly quicker but I wouldn't have though it would be noticeable. It's just been pre-chewed!

Good excuse to try some new soup recipes, some of them can be more tasty than a normal meal

Thanks, Aoife. That's what I thought. I just had to check - you never know with this diabetes lark! 😛

Bloden, once your back to more solid but not chewable food, try this:
Bake a sweet potato (or you can use a normal one), scrape out the insides, mash with cream cheese, a bit of chilli and some finely chopped spring onions that have been lightly fried, put whole mush in a baking tray , sprinkle with cheese and bung in oven for 15 mins until cheese is golden. It tastes lovely, and makes you feel like you've eaten a proper meal, without having to actually chew anything. (My OH had a tooth out last week, and I did this for him.)

Hope you're enjoying the food you can cope with post tooth out, Bloden.

Personally, I found the key thing was to avoid anything too acidic eg orange juice, as that really hurts if it touches the wound.

Thanks ladies. 🙂🙂

That sounds delicious, Annette. That 'proper meal' feeling is definitely what I need right now!

You're right, Copepod. When I fixed last night's hypo with my usual oj, I really felt it.🙄
