I was diagnosed type2 in August 2000, since then I have been on various medications including Metformin, Exenatide, Liraglutide, Glimepiride and others. Two years I weighed in at about 16 stone and my diabetes was not good. I decided to join a Gym locally and started going 3 mornings a week for a 2 hour session. After a year of regularly going I was down to 13 stone and my diabetes results were excellent. I was referred to as 'pre diabetic' by the nurse. Over that year I was gradually cut back to just 2 metformin a day all other meds were cancelled.
Then came lock-down as I am 72 and have other health conditions I cancelled my gym membership and stayed indoors for a year. My weight slowly increased back to over 16 stone. My HbA1c in May this year was 80 mmol/mol. I have now been put on Ozempic semaglutide, starting this Sunday.
What should I expect to start with? Nausea, tummy problems, not being able to finish meals? Any other things that I have not read about yet?
Best regards
Stephen

Welcome to the forum @Vintagemalt

Sorry to hear how the lockdown has affected you. Hopefully you can get back to your previous levels of activity as things lift, and the meds can help you in the meantime.

Sounds like you did brilliantly in managing your diabetes before, so you clearly found strategies that worked really well for you. Hopefully you can do the same again 🙂

Hi and welcome. You might get side effects on the ozempic but you might not, I haven’t really had any. It can support you to lose weight by helping you feel full but it isn’t a magic bullet, you’ll need to work on the weight loss to make the most of it. You’ve lost weight before so you no doubt know what works for you and how to get that started.

Hello and welcome. 🙂
