Hi Toes and welcom to the forum. It'll be good to get your viewpoint on here as someone in a very different healthcare system. I lived in Virginia for a while and comparing the difference between the sysytems is something that really fascinates me! (hmm, that made me sound a bit of a geek!)

Do join in the threads and ask whatever you like!

Hello and Welcome to the forum Toes !! 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Goodness gracious,,,thank you all for such a warm welcome. It was a plesant surprise this morning!
Is this also where I tell you a bit about myself? Well I hope so...so here it goes.🙂
I am a Type 2 diabetic being diagnosed 19 years ago. Treated with oral meds for 10 years, I was removed from them & put on an inuslin regime which included both slow acting & rapid acting insulin. I have had an unfortunate history of prolonged periods of non-compliance & diabetic denial which even though I have gained control & been compliant strigently for the past 3 years (HBA1C from 13.0 to 6.2)...I HAVE & am currently the recipient of multiple complications. I hesitate to discuss them at times because I find it difficult to NOT allow diabetes define who I am. If that doesn't make any sense...well....that's just me. Not to mention them all they include an amputation (hence..."Toes"😉) & the most recent & actually the most frightening for me is Stage 3 CKD.
I teach 2nd grade...it is my passion & my joy.🙂
"northerner"...I found this site through your post in the "Kitchen Sink"😉..where I was a active participant for quite some time...Thank You for your kind welcome. There is so much to investigate here...so without more babble from me....See you all later...so very nice .Might I add...I have 3 wonderful canines...one of who's named "Nyssa"....can you tell I am a huge Doctor Who Fan?
Stay well.

Hi "Toes", thanks for telling us a little more about yourself - thought I recognised the name! Sorry to hear about the complications, it must be very difficult to deal with at times, but it does sound as if you are getting to grips with things now and hopefully receiving good care. No doubt your canine companions give you pleanty of loving care!🙂

This is a friendly place with people of all ages and different experiences with diabetes, so please feel free to ask away or share the good times or rants with us!🙂
