Finding things all a bit frustrating at the moment...so I'll have a rant...get it off my chest and hope that the sharing helps both me and others having similar problems...

New Libre monitor applied on Thursday morning and I've had very little time in range...I seem to have been in the low teens for most of the time sometimes peaking in the high teens. Sometimes, waking high, I wait to eat for and hour and still I stay high. This morning waking high I injected and waited but...no...this morning my body decided it was going to start using the insulin in half an hour. Result low blood sugar...over reaction and 3 hours later I'm at 19.

It's exhausting and demoralising that after 34 years now I still make the same mistakes and I still chastise myself but I have to remember I have been ill with a cold and a head stuffed full of phlegm and feeling very tired. Easy to under estimate just how much of an effect illness can have on blood sugars.

Last three scans all within range so here's hoping for some stability and a return to green on my log book.

Ah dude! I feel your pain.

My BGs have been misbehaving recently too - lurching from above range to below, and Dex never quite keeping up with the rate of change such that my time below 4 has been far more than I'd like. It all started with highs after breakfast that jus would not respond no matter what I did. In the end I have concluded that my liver is up to much sillier nonsens than it has been recently

I am in the process of basal tweaking (again) for the rest of the day, where I now seem to be drifting downwards.

Hope you get yours fixed soon.

Sometimes this game is no fun at all :(

I think I never knew quite how much the goal posts moved till I came to this forum and also started on Libre. :(
Really hoping as this cold shifts things stabilise...but sitting at 2.9 now...must not over react.

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough and that is playing havoc with your BG levels, causing further frustration. Totally understandable.

Just checking..... You do test your low BG levels and more importantly 15 min recovery after treatment with a finger prick rather than relying on Libre don't you? Because Libre will usually show your levels have dropped lower still 15 mins after taking hypo treatment and consequently lead you to over treat a hypo and then end up too high. Finger prick testing 15 mins after treating a hypo will usually show that you have come up above 4, but if not, then you have another 15g fast acting carbs and finger prick again after another 15 mins until you do rise above 4. You may then want to have a small longer acting snack like a digestive biscuit to stabilize your levels. Personally 15g fast acting carbs plus a biscuit would send me into orbit, so it is usually just 5-10g carbs ie 1-2 jelly babies for my hypos and nothing else.
I know you have been diagnosed a long time and I certainly don't want to "teach my granny how to suck eggs" as the saying goes, but it is very easy to over treat hypos if you rely solely on Libre.

Hope you feel better soon and your levels start to behave less erratically.

Thanks Barbara.

Sunday morning I was in such such a muddle that I can't remember what the heck I did now! I think I may have overdone the carbs after the hypo rather than the JBs. I was having muesli as the hypo came on and then thought I'll have some toast just to make sure I don't drop again.

No need to worry about teaching me to "suck eggs". I realise that, even after 34 years, I can still learn new stuff which I have on here. Also good to be reminded of things that sometimes have been forgotten!!

Thankfully there's a bit more green on the log book and I was back to 70% TIR mid morning.
