Celeriac has a very mild flavour and speaking as someone who loves Celary I don't think it tastes the same.

With the olive oil, garlic and lemon juice in the coating the celeriac takes on their flavours.

Thanks Mark, I don't like celery much so maybe its not for me. Perhaps I will try some as an additional veg so that if I don't like it I won't have a spoilt dinner.
I didn't think it tasted like celery when I cooked it. Very strong when being prepared though

I thought it had slight celery undertones to my taste buds, but not noticeable when mixed with other things.🙂

I always think it tastes a bit aniseedy, like fennel, but then I hate things like aniseed balls and liquorice, so I'm probably more attuned to the slightest hint.

I like fennel so will give it a go when next at the shops.

Maybe it is because I love both celery and aniseed I cannot taste either of them. I find the celeriac a good vehicle for absorbing cooking flavours so if it is seasoned well it takes on the flavour of any seasoning.

Thanks Lynne. I quite often do a beef in red wine casserole in my slow cooker so could put some in there in place of potatoes.

I get some venison from our local butchers - £2.99 per lb! Cheaper then the stewing steak. Do it in the slow cooker with carrots and onion. Always add a splosh of red wine to 'beef' it up a bit you understand 😉

Sounds like we have the same tastes Lynne. I use a knorr rich beef stock pot usually which doesn't seem to bad carbs wise looking at the packet,

Yup! I stick one of them in as well! 😉 I usually do a bout 2lb of meat and freeze half of it into portions.

Mmmmmmmm
Just cooked the Greek Lamb with celeriac for an early supper.
Served with spring greens.

Thank you

Hope you enjoy SB
