I’ve been using gram flour in sauces and for making onion barges. Is gram flour ok for us to eat as it’s from chick peas rather than flour.

Unfortunately nobody can answer that question for you and it's something you will have to find out for yourself, I can't remember the carb content for it but I'm sure its not too low carb

To test what works for you as the individual you are its best to test before eating and then again 2 hours later, ideally your looking for no more than a 2-3mmol rise post meal

It's aboyr 65% of normal wheat flour. Wheat flour c.75g carb per 100g weight, gram flour c. 55g carb per 100g weight.

It's still carb Sue, and the human body couldn't car less where it comes from. I mean wheat is a plant the same as a pea is, So are both sugar cane and sugar beet.

It's how your body reacts to whatever it happens to be, that informs you whether it's OK or not.

I was told chick peas are a weird one. Some of us digest them and break down the carbs whereas others find they go straight through.
So, just like hummus, felafel, espinacas con garbanzos and chana masala (all made with chickpeas), the impact gram flour has on our blood sugars is unique to ourselves.
One of my diabuddies swears by it and says it has much less impact than the 65% carbs suggests but, for me, it makes no difference.

I guess some bodies do care whether the carbs come from chickpeas or sugar cane and sugar beet.
