Hello, I wonder if anybody can help me? I am going away for the weekend and am looking for foods I can fill up on that do not require a fridge or cooking. I am in room only accommodation and will have to eat out but the choices ate not very diabetes friendly so am looking for ideas of some items I could take with me. So far I have crackers, nuts and fruit

Where and when are you going? What is room temperature likely to be?
There are several ways to keep food cool without a fridge eg place a bottle of milk in a dish of water, with a a cloth over, dipped in the water - evaporation keeps milk cool. You could take a pack of mixed salad and keep it cool with evaporation, for example.
Plus, many eating out places willreduce carbohydrate content of dishes, if you ask eg replace bread / rice / pasta / potato with salad or veggies.

Nature Valley Protein bars? around 10g of carb, I think.
I second these as they are very tasty. I alternate between these and 9 bars: also about 10g carbs and Morrisons have started to stock them as well as health food shops.
I use these as part of my packed lunch every day but they make a handy breakfast when camping.

Pea snacks from Aldi are really nice (10g carb per pack). They don't taste too pea like, they are crunchy & come in different favours. I also second Nature Valley Protein bars & 9 bars.

I love the pea snacks and think every supermarket sticks them now. I would also take nut butter, maybe peanut, cashew or almond, love them all.
