They didn’t ask and I still need to use the glucometer to check readings, for calibration etc

Has anyone encountered this and what if they won’t reinstate the items although I have asked them to add the items back.

Why would they do this?

Are you due a medication review ?
Have you spoken to them as it may just be a mistake that somebody didn't press the right button, I doubt it is anything sinister.

Sometimes if I haven’t ordered an item for 6 months or so, (which I often don’t in the case of lancets and strips), they disappear from my repeats. When I order a repeat online, there is a box in which I can add comments, so if I need something reinstating, I mention it in the box, and it gets prescribed, or reinstated if that’s what i’ve asked for.

Instead of shouting about it here I’d just ask your GP practice

I can only imagine the feeling of horror when something you need is no longer there. However, it is probably best if you speak to the GP practice. You might not even need an appointment. The receptionists at my GP practice vary in their level of experience and some can give more information than others but they are all very helpful. Sometimes they can answer my questions about what has happened or message the doctor or nurse for me. As already said, it may be an error either human or computer and there have been a couple of posts about issues with the computer and prescriptions. I hope that you get things sorted although you will have another day of worry as today is Sunday.

Sorry to hear you have had your test strips and lancets removed from your repeat prescription @london5

This certainly shouldn’t have happened.

Most likely it’s just some sort of admin mix-up. Do get in contact with your GP surgery and let them know - hopefully getting them reinstated will be very easy, and will come with an apology for the error.

The Diabetes UK Helpline (the number at the top of the page, open Mon-Fri 9-6) may be able to help you locate the appropriate guidance around continuing need for fingerstick testing supplies for T1s, even if using sensors.
