So, hopefully just a quick update. On Friday I went to my doctors for my diabetic annual review, and I have to say my doctor was lovely (first time I've seen or met with my actual allocated doctor!):
HbA1C - slightly raised to 8.1%
Cholesterol - down from 5.2 to 4.7 (very pleased with that, just wish I knew how I'd done it!!)
Kidney function - normal/fine
Feet checked, poked, pricked and attacked - all fine and normal
Then I had an eye test and retinal screening at the Opticians:
My eye sight has actually improved - I now need a weaker prescription for driving 🙂 (although the good news has cost me ?105 for new glasses 😱 )
Retinal screening - basically all fine, a few burst vessels, but he just said that shows I'm diabetic, but followed with the usual phrase - work on better blood sugar control.
In the afternoon, I went to my diabetes centre to see my DSN and dietician about the pump, & that all went well. They prepared me for a long wait to actually get funding approval, and the hard work that is involved with the pump, but they will be supporting me. My DSN is going to phone and speak to my GP (I told her about the pump in the morning & she seemed all for it) so she can build a relationship with her, & hopefully make things easier. Will let you know as and when I hear anything new, but I imagine it's going to be nearer to months, rather than weeks.
All in all, a very productive day! 🙂
