I got my referal to the clinic. They phoned home twice and both hubby and grown up son said she works full time so wants an early as possible or an as late as possible appointment. It is at Mid day (yeah 12:00 high noon, so do not forsake me etc...) I can do it just , but will have to leave work by 10.30am to get there. Oh well I'll have to suckit and see...

Good to hear you have the referral Caroline - seems they decided to pick on a time half way betwen the times requested :( Typical! 🙄

Glad that you've got the referral Caroline but sorry to hear about the time.

Go with it Caroline. While you are there find out about their appts system.

Our main (huge, University) hosp it's centralised and if you cancel you are put back another six months because they aren't allowed to change the session, so the D clinic might have 10 sessions, AM and PM every day but if your appt comes through for eg Thursday afternoon, they can't change it to eg Tuesday morning. So if it's a 12 month follow up and you know 12 months in advance you will be in Australia this time next year you can't say to them eg not next September. Then they send the appt through next Aug for next Sept, and you ring and cancel so they remake it for the following March etc etc ..... I've gone nearly 3 years in the past without being able to see anyone who knew A from a bull's foot about D. That's the downside to living somewhere a lot of other people also live.

When they changed the system to that one I just had to say to work, with some trepidation, well tough - they don't work to their patients' convenience let alone yours and there's nowt I can do about that. V popular I was ......

Then I found out by accident there's an excellent D clinic at one of the smaller satellite hospitals - where they have a receptionist/secretary with a DIARY and a computer - I wangled a transfer there - oh Bliss ! OK it took me 3 hours to go there and back instead of one, but at least I could say OMG not the last working day of the last month of the Financial Year .....

Caroline pleased you have the referrel through hun but sorry to hear bout the time I'm the same at the minute can only do appointments early morning till about 10 and low nd behold all they had to offer at my surgery was 12 15 gr

I think I am going to go withthe appointment. My contractual hours mean I have to work a minimum of 7 hours and 12 minutes a day, so I can work till 10.36 and still get there on time as it is close to the station. I start work around 7am so I can work till 10.36

Min hours even if you have a hospital appt? 😱
