Type 2
Oh well I got the call from my Dr yesterday afternoon confirming I am type 2. Dr said initially we will work with diet and exercise.
I was told to make an appointment with the diabetic nurse, which I have done so I will see her on Monday morning.

I do feel a little overwhelmed at the moment, just worrying about how I am going to get to grips with everything. Also how will I know what she is telling me will work for me, or is it the case I have to figure out a lot for myself. 😱

thanks
Scotia.

Hi Scotia, try not to worry, we are all here to answer any questions you may have. Take things one step at a time and you will get there 🙂 Have you read Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter? These should help to clarify things for you. I'd also suggest getting a copy of the excellent Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, which has proved very helpful for many of our members 🙂

Good luck on Monday - let us know how things go! 🙂

Hi Scotia,

It will be a bit trial and error at first but you'll get there in the end so dont worry too much. My best advice would be that when you go to see the nurse see if she can let you have a monitor and test strips so that you can do your own testing after food - that way you should be able to work out what is best for you to eat. Good luck

Hello and welcome to the forum. It can be a bit overwhelming to begin with. It is certainly a learning curve as you work out the things you can and can't have.

We are here to help so come and ask as many questions as you like, no question is too silly as they help all of us.

Thanks for your replys, I will ask for a monitor and strips. I suppose the best way is to write everything down I eat and do the blood readings.

thanks
Scotia.
