If you are newly diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic then you will find this site helpful. It contains a free eBook written by a Type 2 Diabetic and also has some good related products and books of interest. All the resources are specifically chosen to help out new Type 2 Diabetics and they are all very relevant, well there is a section on Pet Diabetics which Type 2's may argue against but other than that its all pretty useful. I did help write some of the stuff on there so I know its written by genuine T2's 🙂

The majority of the links from your website point to dubious American miracle cure products from alternative medicines to people specializing in motivational topics. The likes of Germaine Hudson (pen name) who was inspired by Dr Robert Young (http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2...ested-and-arraigned-but-will-he-be-convicted/) and Dr Wayne Dwyer (American self-help author and motivational speaker not a medial person at all).

If you spend any time on this and the other UK forum you will find that most diabetics are dissimilar in medication and treatment.
There is no way of 'reversing' diabetes.
Strict adherence to carb restricting diets will alleviate the symptoms for T2 diabetics as will exercise and together no doubt a lot of T2s can be medicine free for a long time, but that doesn't cure their diabetes.

It is great that you are free from insulin and wish to share your methods.

Hi Vic I have a very good friend who was T2. Ex army & walks the legs off his poor dog & guess what ! Off meds. Might depend on the % of being T2 but is possible. Good luck 🙂

Good for him, but he is still diabetic, I would bet he wouldn't pass a Glucose tolerence test. Once you have lost the ability to produce enough insulin or are insulin resistant you cannot go back to a normal response to carbs. You can reduce your BG by very low carb diet, thus reducing the sugar in your blood or you can exercise and hopefully use up the sugar in your blood. But if you go back to the habits or the majority of people the diabetes will return.

We are also very different, which is why some can manage on diet and exercise, others on Metformin, others on Byetta/Victoza and the like, others on basal insulin and others on basal and bolus insulin and all T2.

I think this is the chief point that needs putting across to people: there is no single, successful method for getting blood sugars under control because human beings are incredibly diverse both physically and the way they live their lives. The one point that people can be sure of is that a suitable, healthy diet and regular exercise will always be beneficial to your health and blood sugar control, what ever medication you may need to supplement it. 🙂

Look at me, I'm a Type 1 who doesn't need basal insulin, how many like me do you know? It's a broad spectrum with myriad influences, you can't mend it like you might a broken limb.

When I post on this subject I always try to say "reverse diabetic symptoms".

I think saying "reversing diabetes" gives the wrong message. As Vicsetter says, I also believe that if people revert to their former behaviour patterns then their symptoms will reassert themselves (and possibly worse ... their beta cells might give up the ghost all together a bit sooner).

Andy 🙂
