Have been for my appointment with the consultant this morning and put my case forward for getting a pump and he is writing my letter for funding today!!! Can't beleive it! I had to go through a lot with him and why I thought it would be better for me and how I think it will improve my lifestyle and he has agreed. yahoooo. He is going to book me in for an appointment with the pump nurse and the nutritionist (I don't need to do Daphne as I am carb counting at the minute so he said I could just sit with the specialist and do some tweeking.

I asked him what sort of timescale I was looking at as I have read that some people have had to wait for up to 12 months, and he said that I should be functioning on the pump within 8 weeks!!!!😱

I'm excited but now I am sort of nervous at the same time! I know that I am doing the right thing!!!! But now I'm anxious about it!

Brilliant news, I hope the wait is only a short one for you, I know other forum users have waited the full 12 months.

Oh thats great news. Its awful when you have to explin yourself to dr's but you must have done a great job. well done

that's brilliant news lesley I hope it works well for you! x

I haven't got a clue what pump I'll be getting but the consultant said there waas a choice. He is going to make me an appointment with the pump nurse whilst I am waiting for stuff to go through so I should find out then.

So pleased for you! Let us know how you get on. 🙂

Thats great news lesley. There are a few books that are recommended for pumpers, 'pumping insulin' by john walsh is one of them. There are members on all of the pumps so I'm sure they can help you if you need to ask any questions to make your decision
