Went for my yearly hba1c last week and had a letter from my GP asking me to contact them to talk about results. Knew something not right as they would have written the results in the letter. I spoke to her today and she said the hba1c was normal again. i still want to get it lower but she does not think there is any problem with it. She did not like my cholesterol result though. I did not know they were going that so I went after I had had my breakfast and lunch. Anyway, it was overall 5.8 compared to 4.7 two years back. Quite surprised. She said the good cholesterol was very good and the triglycerides were good too. As my weight is at the lower end of the BMI she is not too concerned and was not going to suggest statins. She did say if I could try to get it down it would be better. Will see what I can do.

I have sent for an upgrade Code Free as I want to continue to check my blood sugars and make sure they do not start playing up again. I was pre-diabetic not diabetic.

I mentioned whether intermittent fasting might help but GP not too keen as my weight is quite low and she would not like me to lose any more. Oh well, at 67 I suppose I cannot expect everything to be perfect these days.

Well something's changed enough to make a difference to your total chol and your LDL level - cos the latter isn't tested, it is calculated from those results which they do actually measure. However, a. often reducing carb reduces LDL a bit b. I wouldn't lose any sleep and c. my late MiL told us approx 20 years ago that 'Old age don't come on its own, you know!' - we laughed. Neither of us is laughing now cos it's 100% true.

So d. I have never aimed for perfection and will continue not to do so - it's entirely unrealistic !
