Relationship to Diabetes
HCP/Researcher
Hi everyone,
I’m Alex, I’m currently a part-time foot health practitioner and I’m studying at college also and due to start university in September to study Podiatry! I do not have diabetes, but people close to me have and I feel passionately about diabetic foot health care.

thank for taking the time to read, and I hope to meet some lovely people.

Have a beautiful day everyone
Take care
Alex

Hi Alex. Nice to meet you and see you’re interested in diabetes. I’m sure you’ll learn a lot about diabetes from reading the threads here.

Hi and welcome

It is great that you want to follow a career in foot care which as you know is so important with diabetes. We have a few members of the forum who have diabetes related foot conditions like neuropathy and Charcot and I am sure they will be able to help you in your understanding of those conditions from a patient perspective. many of our members are very knowledgeable about diabetes and related issues, so the forum is a great place to learn and I rather wish more health care professionals joined as I think they could learn a lot here.

Good luck with your studies

Thank you for your reply!
that’s what I’m hoping for as it’s so important for health professionals to understand health conditions from a patients perspective. I think diabetic podiatry is something I would like to specialise in, maybe even education as I just feel it can be one of those areas that gets neglected until it’s too late! When I start uni I’m going to recommend that other people join to gain more understanding!

Thank you very much xxx

Glad to have you here @Ally the ‘foot lady’
Good to have a focus on what we can do to help ourselves take care of our feet.
I always have good intentions but don’t always do what I know I need to.

Thank you for welcoming me 🙂
Definitely, I believe it's so important to educate people about how their health problems may affect their feet and educating about self foot-care practices. The feet are one of those places on the body where people quite often think 'ah well its just my feet', but we forget how important they are at the best of times, never mind with chronic health problems too. But, at the end of a busy day I'm sure the last thing on most peoples minds is fiddling with their feet!

Take care
