any idea what i can take whilst playing golf to keep my energy levels up ,i take Almonds but that dont seem to do much ,i tried banana but that was too much and it blasted me out ,perhaps just before the game and during the game ...thank you. Type 2

Hi Pete, welcome to the forum 🙂

You could try munching a Dextro Energy tab every couple of holes. That should keep your energy exertion/intake balance nicely. You can buy them in any chemist or supermarket. Don't overdo them, I'm T1 and use three or four of them to correct hypoglycemia. You'll learn by trying how much you need without sending your BG score higher than your score for the round:D

Hi Pete1948
What to have as an 'energy snack' really depends upon the way tour own body reacts to carbohydrates. Since you are a Type 2 it's important not to have too much carbohydrate at once - hence your reaction to the banana.

Many of us T2's who have our Diabetes in remission have done it using a Low Carb High(er) Fat 'way of eating'. What this does is to adapt our bodies so that when our energy levels start to flag our bodies start 'burning' our body fat to give us the boost we need. These days many long distance runners, triathletes etc do this.

I'm assuming that you are in the High Carb camp, if so the best energy snack will be something with a high Glycemic Load but with a low Glycemic index i.e. something that will keep you going for longer but doesn't give you too big a 'hit'.
I suggest trying either something Oat based or something berry based or a combination of both. e.g. Straw/Rasp/Black/Blue berries in a plain full fat yogurt (not a flavoured yogurt). My wife used to breakfast on Oats 'soaked overnight in plain full fat yogurt with berries added just before eating - but she wasn't diabetic.

These days my body is 'dual fuel' so I'm never hungry before lunch and I do my daily exercise before I break my fast.

Thank you ,i will take all this onboard ,i will try yogurt and berries 15 mins before golf ,see what happens ...
