Just want to share the result of my phone appointment with the consultant 15mins ago as it is really something to celebrate and mostly as a result of the input from you wonderful people here on the forum.... and a little help from my self funded Libre, but wouldn't have had that without you people either, so a huge THANK YOU for getting me where I am now.

HbA1c is down to 48 and I am absolutely over the moon with that result.:D People have said that Libre estimates lower than reality so I didn't dare to hope it might be in the 40s and was prepared for low to mid 50s. Really, really chuffed with 48 particularly since that is the diabetes threshold.

Cholesterol is down another decimal place to 4.8 despite following a high fat diet and eating loads of cheese and cream in my coffee every morning and rather more pork scratchings than I should!😱

Weight is down 4lbs since Feb which I am also very happy about but as I have been at a normal BMI since diagnosis (when I dropped a stone and a half) I would be quite content with just a maintenance level.

BP was 130/80 but I was really stressed as appointment was for my 5 yearly smear test as well as blood tests, so not surprising it is a little higher than I would like.

Libre shows 91% in target, 3% moderate low and 6% moderate high and my consultant has awarded me his Gold medal award as patient of the day and my Libre will be on prescription from now on. I start back on Fiasp today which will take a bit of readjustment but since I tend to do corrections for protein after I have eaten, it should perhaps enable me to improve things a little more.

One of my questions was about having Libre on prescription and perhaps being committed to continuous use, but he was happy for me to take a break from Libre for a couple of weeks here and there when I need to as sometimes I find it can get a bit consuming and a week or so of finger pricking makes me appreciate it all the more again but also reminds me that I don't need to be so reliant on this technology and to remember to listen to my body.

Really feel like I am starting to get to grips with this now but the big challenge will be maintaining that level of success in the longer term and not being too disappointed if it goes up a little occasionally as I am sure that can be demotivating.

Anyway, I will be raising a celebratory glass to you guys tonight, so "Cheers" for all your guidance and support. I would definitely not have achieved this success without you.

I have just read your story and you have given me hope that I will eventually manage to have some of the control you have worked for. So thank you 🙂

Great results! Well done all round. :D :D :D

I am thrilled for you

Well done on your hard work and good results! It's karma as well. I've seen how many kind and thoughtful responses you've sent to people including myself. You deserve it.

I second that! Many congratulations!

That’s wonderful news and good on you, you thoroughly deserve Gold Award of the day and your Libre on prescription. I shall toast your success myself tonight - any excuse lol x

Never mind the celebratory glass, Spain has marked your achievement by naming a storm in your honour. Storm Barbara is forecast to hit the UK tomorrow.
Oh dear! I hope, unlike me, it is feeble and short lived. Apologies to anyone who feels the brunt of it. Don't like storms so I may have to have an extra glass tonight then to settle my nerves. So pleased you are joining my celebration @SueEK Delighted to give you an excuse. Anyone else want to join us, you are all welcome but make sure it is a low carb drink please.
Thanks for all the lovely, kind and supportive comments. Can't tell you how great it is to be able to post good news. Hoping you are all in a similar situation soon, if not already.
This forum and it's members and ethos really are a wonderful and inspirational resource.

Many, many congratulations!! Such a good result. You have paid back any help from this place a hundred-fold with the detailed, thoughtful help you give so often to others.

Thats a fantastic result @rebrascora, and so well deserved. I will also raise a glass in your honour. Cheers!!

Well done @rebrascora
So nice to have confirmation of your success. Well deserved praise.
Also good to be getting the Libre on prescription. It will be interesting to see how that helps you with the switch to FIASP.
Well done.

Thanks again to everyone who has responded to my good news and has helped me to get to this point.
Just run along to the surgery to pick up my first lot of sensors on prescription. Managed to ping off my last self funded sensor last night (with 2 days to go) when I came back from my run and was pulling a sweat shirt on for my cool down.
Had a bit of a wobble at bedtime last night as I wasn't confident about going to bed without it on again and woke up at 3am to check.... which of course meant getting out of bed and going into another room and putting lights on to finger prick but all ok.
Woke up on a nice 4.7 this morning and managed to have breakfast 25 mins after injecting Fiasp, which is a lot better than an hour or 3, but that will have been helped by waking on a nice low number and my run yesterday as well as the Fiasp, so all going well so far.

That is a great result @rebrascora I'm very happy for you. Well done. 😎

Great stuff @rebrascora - well done. Glad to see your hard work paying off 🙂
