It's a good idea to have a letter stating that you need to keep insulin and sharps with you in the aeroplace cabin and not in the hold. Many GPs will charge for such a letter, but DSNs (Diabetes Specialist Nurses) at hospital clinics don't, so if you can, ask for a letter that will cover this and future trips. If you can't get a letter, then at least carry a repeat prescription form, in case you need to show to security staff.

You shouldn't need a note for metformin, although it would be worth taking a repeat prescription sheet with you so you can prove what it is and that it's yours 🙂

Sorry Boss <<< Holds head in shame >>> 😱

1 Pitta bread should be not much more than 1 slice of bread so shouldn't be much of a problem even only on Metformin. Maybe the lamb had been eating extra sweet grass😛

I have tried and eaten all sorts and these lamb kebabs have never caused any reason for worry i.e im around 6,8 ish 2 hours after but in the last couple of nights i have been around 10.0 -12.8 but tonight 15.8 seems to be going up...my dn said i should not reduce my dose from 2 tab to 1 tab which i took on my self as i was getting readings apx 6.8 to 8.8 ish so thought with the weight loss and diet all would be good.

Perhaps you have a cold or infection coming on. Often the first indication, before any other symptoms appear, is a hard to explain rise in levels.

It may not materialise if it is an infection - often blood sugar levels are the only indication that anything's wrong and you immune system happily fights it off 🙂

As you are on Metformin have you packed some Andrex? Spanish toilet paper can be a bit harsh:D

LOL - I remember looking a pitta bread this time last year in Tescos. The smaller round ones were approx 20g carb and the bigger teardrop ones (I mean they aren't very big, just bigger than the round) were 35g each. They also did a larger teardrop but I was having a heart attck at the tought of eating one anyway by that time.

Think that is prolly why I gave em up in the first place, cos I love em with masses of sald stuffed in em. Then as I say, thought OOh, wonder why we haven't had any of these for ages - I could just fancy one.....

I didn't buy em.

I went to Cyprus last week and just let the airlines know in advance and told the security guys that i had sharps and medical supplies in my bags, they were ok with it, but to be doubly sure you may want that extra comfort of a docs note.
