This is a drink from the caribbean and other places. All the older generation swear by it for blood pressure and 'sugar'. It has a slight bitter aftertaste but who cares

You should always be very careful when trying out folk remedies. Most are perfectly harmless, though they probably won't help much either, but now and again you come across one that can actually be harmful. For a diabetic, any drink made with sugar is a bad idea, it could send your numbers through the roof. You should always be very careful when trying out folk remedies. A varied, healthy diet low in saturated fat and salt will likely prove more useful in the long run.

Just a small glass each day - you dilute it with water. You can even make it yourself. I got the plant, you boil it etc

It's entirely up to you of course, but unless they make a diet version, I wouldn't chance it.

Just googled as I hadnt heard of it

Afraid it's 42 carbs per serving size (all of which are sugar). I believe orange juice is around 25 carbs for same (8oz) serving.

Suppose you could dilute it a lot with sparking water which seems to be the way it is usually served. And having it with food perhaps would be better?

Normally, you take a little bit (its thick like a cordial) and add a lot of water and just drink. You make sure its not too sweet. I have had it before, it's OK. I make sure it a tiny bit to a lot of water.
