I'm off to Frimley Park hospital tomorrow morning. I couldn't get an appointment until late October at my own hospital, so they booked me a private appointment at Frimley( no cost to me). I'm having the scan because of the earlier TIA scare a few months ago, I was refered by the stroke Doctor. My appointment is at 8.05 am and I will be getting the train to Farnborough then a taxi, I got the bus last time, but won't have enough time tomorrow. Tia will be going to her dad's about 6.50 and will be having breakfast there, she wants to take her Rice Crisipies with her lol.
Anyway, that's it for now, has anyone else had a MRI scan? I know I have to lie very still and the machine is noisy, so hopefully I will be in and out and back home after a couple of hours. Best wishes Sheenax

Sheena,

Ive no experience of an MRI but I will be thinking of you tomorrow hope it all goes well.

P,s Tia has good taste there Rice Crispies rock 🙂

Oh my Sheena, you really do have a lot on your plate! No experience of an MRI scan I'm afraid, but I hope it all goes well 🙂

Thanks steff and Alan, it's waiting for results( also a blood test 10 days ago)
that take the time, and the mind can go in overdrive at times. The good news will be if they manage to locate my brain, as there have been times when I'm sure I have mislaid it somewhere😛 Sheena x

Hi Sheena

I've had one and yes it is very noisy.
I was able to take my own clothes ie pj's or tracksuit (which I opted for) I think that helped with the laying still bit.

You will be given headphones to help with the noise aspect.

No jewellery (as with all xray things)

It did seem to be over very quickly even though I was told I'd been in there half an hour 😱

I was worried I'd twitch or something thankfully I didn't lol

I could have taken a cd in which they will play into the room I didn't do this as in 1996 my cd collection was limited lol
To be honest I doubt I would have heard it!

Might all have changed since then  Hope it goes ok for you.

Take Care

Thank you Sarah, how did your MRI turn out, was it good news and how long did you have to wait for your results?
I did let the MRI unit know that I suffer from Restless leg Syndrome and it gets quite bad during the day ( as well as the nighttime), so I have extra tablets to take so I have been advised by the Dr to take one , 1 hour before I have the scan, so hopefully it will work at that time in the morning. Sheena x

I'm sure the tablet will do the trick and if the unit knows there may be a problem they will have things they can do. They do have weights that they pop over legs and arms if there is a problem.

As for results I went back to my gp for results it was 6 weeks but I had it done Boxing Day so that may have caused the delay:confused: I then went on to see the consultant in the following May!! No great rush with backs it would seem 😡
I would imagine with the nature of your scan they will get the results through fairly quick and as they watch the screens through out the scan "if" there was anything major untoward they would pick up on it straight away.

I know it's easier said than done & I would be exactly the same even now having had one. Try not to worry. The important thing is it's being done.

Try to tackle one hurdle at a time 🙂

And good luck from me too ! 🙂

I have had 3 MRI's. The last one took longer as I just couldn't keep still. It must have been because I was nervous.Try not to worry. It is very noisy but that's all you will notice.

Good Luck for tomorrow Sheena. My mum had a MRI Scan last week and got the results within 48 hours

Good luck Sheena, hope it all went well 🙂 x

Hi the MRI scan went well, it's not scary or frightening, it's just very noisy.
It lasted about 30 mins, I kept very still and my legs behaved themselves as well! When you first go in, it looks a bit daunting and the machine was making a loud thumping sound, it reminded me of the Morlocks under dwelling in the original film The Time Machine lol. I don't know when I will get the results and my gut feeling about the results is good. I hope you are all enjoying the weekend. Take care Sheena

So pleased to hear the scan went well Sheena, glad it wasn't as scary as you imagined it might be! 🙂 Hope the results are good when you get them 🙂

Hi i have had 2 scans and the best advice i can give is to try your best to relax. It shouldnt take to long and think about having a treat of some kind after. (Tip close your eyes and think your on holiday somewhere nice) . Good luck 🙂🙂

Glad to hear it wasn't as abad as you were expecting.

I am surprised you don't know when you will get your results as normally in these places they tell you when the results will be back with the GP or consultant.

I'm glad is wasn't as bad as you thought it might be Sheena. Fingers crossed for a good result, and that you don't have to wait too long for it. XXXXXX

Real pleased it went ok Sheena 🙂

As has been said hope you gets results soon.

Hope Tia enjoyed breakie at her dad's and that you can spend the evening relaxing now it's done 🙂

Take Care

Sarah 🙂
