My mum has been told to have a GTT. As far as I'm aware there is nothing to indicate that she may have diabetes. I'm therefore surprised that they've asked for the test. Any thoughts as to why they may do this?

Hi, the only other reason I can think of is to check for reactive hypoglycaemia or insulin resistance.

She must have had an anomalous blood or urine test or other possible symptoms like peeing and drinking a lot .... and after all ...its in the family 😉
OGTT is also used to diagnose Acromegaly ( a pituitary gland malfunction).

Thank you. I spoke to mum again last night and she hasn't got a clue why they are doing it. Just hope that it will be ok
